To add to the challenges, it'd be great to have some dust, or mist, in the air so young Eric's flashlight beam shows up. The other day, while channeling my inner fireman, it occurred to me that a CO2 fire extinguisher might be just the thing. Any of you happen to have one of those?

So if shooting "day for night" does that mean you're going to need an ultra high powered flashlight to illuminate the dust in daylight?
We could shoot after sunset for a good 20 minutes or so). If there wasn't going to be too much shooting (like 5-10 minutes of properly cued action) it should be doable. I do have a gaggle of f1.2 and f1.4 lenses too that will aid drastically in this matter. ISO3200 @ 1/25th, f1.2 lets in a whole lots of light. We are shooting this at 24p right? If we get and overcast day too that would be optimal. As for a flashlight we definitely would need either a super bright one (for higher ambient light situations), or a run of the mill one for dusk / night shots. What we really need is a battery powered low output light orb for night shooting. Something big and round to get some light into the scene but with soft shadows. Unfortunately I only have a battery pack for strobes. If we had a small easily portable generator we could potentially use the 100 watt modeling lamp with one of my strobes+large umbrella.
